Jessica Harrington watches winners at Leopardstown as over 70s rule is relaxed

Jessica Harrington was on hand to watch two winners at Leopardstown today after a long absence from racecourses due to HRI coronavirus protocols.

The decorated trainer's horses recorded four wins between today's meetings at Leopardstown and Tipperary.

Harrington, 73, had been unable to attend live racing since action resumed in Ireland on June 8 due to a rule preventing trainers over the age of 70 from attending the behind-closed-doors fixtures which are closed to the general public.

The ban on over-70s going racing was lifted today and two owners per horse will be permitted to attend race meetings in Ireland from July 20 under new protocols released by Horse Racing Ireland last week.

Harrington's string have been in fine form of late while she has watched racing from her home at Commonstown Stables in Moone, Kildare.

Both Barrington Court and Polished Steel recorded wins for Harrington in Tipperary earlier today.

At Leopardstown, Cadillac won on debut in the Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Maiden and Aesop won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction.
