Jessica Alba’s Stunning Vertical Cabinets Show How Thoughtful Design Can Elevate Even the Most Functional Part of Your Kitchen

Kitchen cabinets are the benchmark for kitchen storage, but how do you ensure they perfectly fit all your kitchen wares? Jessica Alba has the solution: extra-long vertical cabinets.

The actress recently shared an Instagram reel showing her family preparing for their holiday meal in her Los Angeles home, which was designed by Clements Design (the same team that designed Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's Beverly Hills home).

As the camera swept across Jessica's kitchen, we noticed the impressive size of her kitchen storage – and how it perfectly blends style and function. Interior experts confirm that Jessica Alba's vertical storage utilizes one of their favourite organizational methods.

Chic storage isn't limited to your cabinets. You can follow Jessica's example with beautiful storage solutions, such as these rattan baskets from Wayfair, or these baskets, designed by Martha Stewart for QVC. I've also listed my current favorite essentials below.

Jennifer Ebert, digital editor at Homes & Gardens, notes, 'For clutter-free storage, vertical organization is the best method. It's so effective because it allows you to use all of the space you have. When all of your closets and countertop storage are full, the only place to go is up.'

Carlin Van Noppen, interior designer and owner of Fig Linens and Home, agrees with Jessica Alba's choice, saying, 'Vertical storage in the form of kitchen cabinets is so great because it draws your eye up. In a space with high ceilings, these extra-tall cabinets make the ceilings appear even higher by elongating the space. This type of cabinet maximizes storage and gives you a place for any appliances that you rarely use.'

However, organizing this kind of kitchen cabinet demands careful thought. 'It's important to organize from the items you use most to the items you use least,' advises Jennifer. 'In cabinets this tall, the items at the very top can be difficult to access, so you'll want to put the items you use the most on the lower shelves.'

Carlin suggests a stylish solution for reaching those high spots: 'Installing a chic, sliding librarian ladder can be a cool way to access these taller shelves while adding a chicness to the design of your kitchen.' This approach is especially handy as you stock up for seasonal cooking and entertaining.
