Jesse Palmer changes rose ceremony lingo, offers contestants extra time

Jesse Palmer Canadian TV personality

During a recent episode of The Bachelor, host Jesse Palmer surprised fans by changing up the iconic rose ceremony lingo. Instead of the usual phrase, 'Take a moment and say your goodbyes,' Palmer told the contestants to 'take as much time as you need, and when you're ready, say your goodbyes.'

Palmer explained his decision, saying, 'The Bachelor tradition is not to be messed with, so I don't make these choices lightly. As I walked up to the contestants, I could see the tension and emotion on their faces, so I felt like offering them the courtesy to take as much time as needed.'

Before this episode, Palmer had hinted at his line switch-up during a previous episode. In a behind-the-scenes clip, he was seen lounging in a pool float and playfully rehearsing different variations of the phrase, 'Ladies, it's the final rose tonight.' He even joked about the obviousness of stating the obvious, with only one rose left on the table.

The episode itself took the contestants and lead Joey Graziadei from Malta to Spain. As the connections continued to grow, Joey had a heartfelt conversation with contestant Daisy Kent about his struggle to navigate his feelings for multiple women. He confessed, 'I'm always there and trying to be there for their feelings. But until I figure out who my wife is, it feels wrong that I'm expressing and talking through those feelings with someone else.'

Daisy agreed with Joey's sentiments and admitted she underestimated the difficulty of the competition, saying, 'I didn't think coming into here that there would be so many amazing people.'

The Bachelor continues to air on ABC, with new episodes premiering on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.

While Jesse Palmer's line switch-up may have surprised fans, it ultimately offered the contestants a moment of consideration and reflection before saying their goodbyes. As The Bachelor journey progresses, the emotional challenges for both the lead and the contestants become more apparent, creating a unique and unpredictable experience for everyone involved.
