Jesse Marsch fires message to Leeds United players over Nottingham Forest game

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has admitted his side's trip to Nottingham Forest is 'very important' in the context of the relegation battle.

The Whites head to the City Ground for the two clubs' first top-flight meeting since 1999 with both sides sat in the bottom eight of the table. Forest have the opportunity to open up a six-point gap between themselves and Leeds with a win after an impressive four-match unbeaten run in January.

Leeds, meanwhile, are searching for their first win in seven league matches and know with a double header against Manchester United on the horizon how important this game is. Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Marsch acknowledged the table is something that cannot be ignored but is confident his side are on an upward spiral.

"We go to a rival in the table, and it’s a moment for us to show that we are ready for bigger challenges," he said. "We have grown over the last six weeks.

"For me, it’s totally on our process. It’s clear our group is coming together in a really strong way. We can’t avoid the topic of what the table is. It’s very tight, and it makes the match against Nottingham [Forest] very important.

“But we have created a process where we concentrate on ourselves, and now it’s time to focus on our results. If you go through our last seven games, we have only lost one. We are on an uptick, and we will keep pushing.”
