Jesse Marsch 'eyed' for RB Leipzig return as Celtic linked rising star nears Bundesliga big chance

In-demand Jesse Marsch is the leading candidate to replace Julian Nagelsmann as RB Leipzig boss this summer - reports Sky Germany.

The 47-year-old has earned rave reviews for his work with Red Bull Salzburg and could return to the club he previously worked for under famed coach Ralf Rangnick.

It all forms part something of a musical chairs among the top jobs in German football.

Speculation has intensified with Nagelsmann the favourite to succeed Bayern Munch boss Hansi Flick this summer - himself the favourite to take over from close pal Joachim Low as Germany boss.

Marsch has forged a fearsome reputation in Austria and is credited with developing Erling Haaland during his goal-laden stay with Red Bull.

He spoke in glowing terms of Celtic and their vacancy but interest in his services from Germany has been significant and he's been linked with both Dortmund and Monchengladbach in recent months.

He said last month: "I've heard [about the links]. It's an honour for me.

"Three or four years ago, being linked with a club like Celtic would literally be an impossibility for me. And now that this is where I am, I always just try to look at it in terms of, 'what would the project look like?'

"Would we have similar ideas in how to build it the right way, invest in the academy, invest in young players and create this development process that I'm talking about? And not just focus on winning.

"Obviously I know that when you're the coach of Celtic, winning is the most important thing."
