Jesse Lingard undergoes medical ahead of completing West Ham transfer from Man United

Jesse Lingard's move to West Ham is in its final stages with the attacking-midfielder in London to complete his medical assessment on Friday afternoon.

Lingard's loan move is set to be finalised on Friday afternoon if the 28-year-old passes his medical as he is expected to do so.

"He's here doing a medical at the moment but it's not completed just yet," said Hammers manager David Moyes.

The registration deadline for Lingard to be available for West Ham's clash with Liverpool was 12pm on Friday and with the medical yet to be complete the midfielder will not be available for Sunday's match.

Lingard has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford but having managed the midfielder before, Moyes knows what he is getting from him:

"If the Jessie deal goes through then Jesse will give us more options, more attacking options as far as he can play in probably nearly all the positions along the front line, he can play as a midfield player as well," said Moyes.

The Hammers manager has made no secret of his desire to sign another striker in the January transfer window but once again reiterated he would not be forced into signing the wrong man:

"We've seen Yarmolenko come in and do okay for us at centre-forward. I don't want to be in a position where I go and bring somebody just for the sake of it.

"And I've always said that if I can look within my own group to find solutions I'll try and do so. But we can't deny we would have liked another striker, and we have tried to submit an offer for one or two players who we'd have like to have got but for different reasons they've not been gettable," said the boss.

When questioned whether he expected to make any more moves in the transfer window, either incomings or outgoings Moyes replied:

"At the moment, no. we are just concentrating on Sunday's game, to try and look at a way of getting a result in that game."
