Jesse Lingard's superb West Ham loan spell saw the 28-year-old force his way back into the England set-up and contention for Euro 2020 selection.
Lingard was a member of Gareth Southgate's Three Lions squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers early this year and was called up as part of the preliminary 33-man squad for the pre-Euro 2020 training camp in May.
However, reports have emerged that Lingard has not done enough to force his way into the final 26-man squad that will be released on Tuesday afternoon, according to The Athletic.
Lingard's spell at West Ham ended with the Hammers qualifying for the Europa League and Lingard delighted to be joining Declan Rice in the England camp.
Under David Moyes, Lingard hit the ground running with West Ham, scoring twice on his debut and adding a further seven goals to end the season with nine goals and five assists in 16 matches.
Lingard's goalscoring form tailed off towards the end of the season, with the attacking-midfielder not managing to net in the final six Premier League matches.
However, his importance to West Ham's European push cannot be overstated and the exclusion from the England squad will no doubt come as a crushing blow to the player.
When joining the Hammers, Lingard was clear his aims were to get back to playing regular football and force his way into England contention.
He has managed to do both but it seems as though his England ambitions for this summer are now over with Southgate set to drop the 28-year-old.
Lingard has been left out of Three Lions squads in the past and will be keen to return to club football, whether that be at West Ham or Manchester United, and prove once more he is worthy of international recognition.
