Jesse Lingard's touching gesture ahead of Man United match revealed

Nottingham Forest midfielder Jesse Lingard visited Nottingham Children's Hospital before Christmas Day and handed out gifts to patients before interacting with those staying in their care during the festive period.

Nottingham University Hospitals have publicised the visit across their social media platforms this week to show their appreciation to the player at 'such a busy time of the year'. Lingard, 30, has started both of Forest 's back-to-back away matches since the season resumed again last week against Blackburn Rovers and his former club Manchester United.

They make clear that Lingard's visit 'really made the children's day' and that they wish the player and his family 'all the best for 2023'. An anecdote from the visit about an interesting vow that a boy who met him made is also shared.

"It's hard to know who was more excited when Nottingham Forest's Jesse Lingard dropped in to the Children's Hospital - staff or patients," the posts begin. "Jesse handed out chocolate and cuddly toys - and one boy vowed to never wash his hand again after Jesse high-fived him."

Their Facebook post also adds: "Jesse's visit - especially at such a busy time of the year - is really appreciated and really made the children's day - we wish him and his family all the best for 2023." Lingard also shared the visit on his Instagram account on Christmas Eve, captioning the post: "Happiness doesn't result from what we get, but from what we give."

The day before, Lingard also shared that it had been a 'pleasure being able to volunteer and give back to the children all over Manchester' while tagging Cash for Kids Greater Manchester, a charity helping disadvantaged children that need it most across the area where Lingard grew up.
