Jesse Lingard's five transfer options as Barcelona and AC Milan eye Man Utd star

Jesse Lingard has quite the list of clubs to join should he decide to leave Manchester United at the end of the season.

The England international is out of contract in the summer and it does not look likely that he will extend his stay.

West Ham were desperate to sign the midfielder in the summer but the Red Devils priced him at £30m.

The Hammers refused to meet that total - especially considering his contract situation and he remained at Old Trafford.

That is to the detriment of his own career, though, with the 28-year-old a second-string player under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has made just three appearances in the Premier League - totalling 45 minutes with them all coming from the bench.

But when called upon, the playmaker has almost always performed - scoring twice despite his lack of opportunities.

United drafted a new contract but according to the Daily Mail, Lingard has rejected that over concerns of his playing time.

And it appears to have sparked a feeding frenzy with some prestigious clubs interested in the Englishman.

Among them are Barcelona and AC Milan, who are scouring the bargain bin ahead of the summer transfer window.

At the Nou Camp, they have already utilised the Bosman ruling to their advantage by signing Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay all on freebies.

And Lingard could be the next one, while AC Milan have already benefitted from English talent after signing Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea - who has been a huge hit.

Lingard is desperate to bolster his chances of making it into Gareth Southgate's England squad for the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

Several Premier League clubs are interested in the Wythenshawe-born star, too, with West Ham desperate to re-sign him after his brilliant loan spell.

In 16 league appearances, the playmaker scored nine and assisted four to help take the Hammers into a European spot.

But they also face competition from Newcastle, who have seen their wealth grow exponentially after the takeover from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

Should Lingard leave United? Comment below

Leicester were looking to sign Lingard in the summer as well but could not convince United to part ways with the player.

However, Barcelona and AC Milan have the advantage of being able to speak to him from January 1 on a pre-contract agreement.

Such a situation can only be done by foreign clubs - but it remains to be seen whether Lingard is open to leaving the Premier League.
