Jesse Lingard's has once again been overlooked by Gareth Southgate after the England manager opted against including the West Ham loanee as Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury replacement.
Brighton's Ben White was the man to get the nod following Alexander-Arnold's withdrawal, meaning that bar an injury in training this week Lingard's hopes of representing his country this summer are over.
Lingard started the first of England's two Euro 2020 warm-up friendlies and had a 15-minute cameo on Sunday against Romania. Despite his major tournament experience and fine loan spell at the Hammers, the 28-year-old has not been able to persuade Southgate he deserved a spot in the 26-man final squad.
Lingard's exclusion has led to much disappointment for many West Ham and England supporters.
Lingard has not spoken about his failure to make the England squad yet, but the attacking-midfielder has previously shown his pride at representing his country so he is bound to be deflated by the news.
The Manchester United player was given the option to leave the Three Lions training camp following finding out he was not in the original 26-man squad.
However, such was his desire to help his international colleagues the midfielder remained with the squad and received two more England caps as a result.
Lingard has now played 29 times for his country, including six appearances for the Three Lions in the FIFA 2018 World Cup.
Southgate has opted for cover in defence ahead of Lingard's experience with White seemingly selected as cover for the injured Harry Maguire.
White has played just twice at international level but with Maguire an injury worry the Brighton player's inclusion gives Southgate an extra option in defence should the Manchester United captain not recover.
