Jesse Lingard is manager’s favourite at West Ham - and even David Moyes jokes about it, reveals Mark Noble

Mark Noble has revealed that Jesse Lingard has quickly become a favourite of David Moyes - and says even the West Ham boss enjoys ribbing him about it.

Lingard arrived on loan from Manchester United in January and has had a phenomenal impact, recapturing his best form to lead the Hammers towards Europe.

The midfielder has scored nine goals in 13 league appearances, a run of form which has forced him back into England contention ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

West Ham skipper Noble was a guest on this week’s episode of the BBC’s That Peter Crouch Podcast, and when asked who Moyes’ favourite was said: “Jesse Lingard at the minute.

“We do boxes [in training] and he’s not even allowed in the middle!” Noble laughed.

“Now the lads are on it and it’s a running joke. They live in the same apartment block now and the gaffer loves it as well. Jesse will be with us and the gaffer will go: ‘Jess, thanks for bringing me that bottle of wine the other night!’

“He’ll just swallow his Adam’s apple, Jesse, he hasn’t got a comeback.”
