Jesse Lingard apologises to Manchester United fans

Jesse Lingard has apologised to Manchester United fans following the awful run of form at the end of the season but has remained optimistic about next season.

It did initially seem that the good times were back at Old Trafford following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as United went unbeaten in his first 11 games in charge which was quickly followed by the unforgettable victory against Paris Saint-Germain.

Yet United were soon eliminated from the FA Cup by Wolves, the Champions League at the hands of Barcelona and the Premier League form dwindled to the point that they failed to finish within the top four.

United only managed to win twice in their final 12 games and none in their last six and also only managed to score five goals in their final eight matches.

Former Manchester United player has a strong message for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doubters

It's been an abject run and Lingard has taken it upon himself to apologise to fans and encourage them to look forward to next season.

"Never say die! We continue fighting through the ups and downs no matter what," the England international wrote on Twitter.

"Thank you for everyone’s support this season I know it’s been tough and I’m sorry but we go again and we rebuild."

The United squad will now enjoy the off-season before returning for pre-season training in July, before the first pre-season friendly against Perth Glory on July 13.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Manchester United are better team without Paul Pogba
