Jesse Eisenberg & Zoey Deutch Spill On When We Might Get The Third Zombieland

It’s been roughly seven years since we’ve copped an eye-full of gore and horror comedy with Zombieland: Double Tap. But before we could feast our eyes on a third one, Jesse Eisenberg and Zoey Deutch have reunited for something completely different: Minions and Monsters. However, the duo might’ve given us a ‘yuge clue on when we can expect the next instalment.

Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Eisenberg, who portrays main protagonist Columbus in the beloved horror comedy, claimed that something could be brewing in three years.

“I think in three years maybe, because we’ve done it every 10 years. Well, we’ve done two with a 10-year span. That’s not every 10 years,” Eisenberg shared.

Deutch, who signed on in Zombieland: Double Tap as the iconic Madison, pointed out that if Zombieland 3 were to kick off, it would be Eisenberg’s sixth collaboration with director Reuben Fleischer.

But ultimately the iconic duo — who have reunited as unexpected lovers in Minions and Monsters — believe the decision is up to Emma Stone to return for a third movie.

“Probably up to Emma Stone. Let’s be honest,” Eisenberg added.

“If she wants to do a Zombieland 3, I think we would.”

Jesse Eisenberg and Zoey Deutch on reuniting for Minions and Monsters

Although the pair didn’t get to see each other IRL when it came to recording their lines for the third instalment of the Minions’ standalone movie (separate from the Despicable Me universe), Deutch admitted that she “long craved” to work with Eisenberg after their stint in Zombieland: Double Tap.

“I was excited and sad that I wouldn’t get to work with him because I have long craved to work with him again after we did on Zombieland,” Deutch shared before Eisenberg chimed it was a “me too”.

Although we’ve yet to see any ~official tea~ on a potential third Zombieland in 2025, director Fleischer confirmed that he was down to get one going in 2029.

“We’re starting to talk about that because [the first] one was 2009, and then we did the second one in 2019, and we kind of left that one all saying, ‘We’ll see you in 10 years’. That’s coming up now, and so we’re starting to figure that out, so I’m hoping that’ll come together,” he revealed in an interview with Deadline.

Look, time is ticking, and it’s ticking rapidly, so… no pressure, but the franchise deserves a third.

Minions and Monsters is out now in Australian cinemas.
