Jess Wright 'felt dark cloud' after son's birth and psoriasis has shattered confidence

After a fairy-tale wedding in Majorca, Jessica Wright welcomed a baby boy Presley earlier this year with husband William Lee-Kemp.

Four months on, the former TOWIE star, 37, candidly speaks out about how she battled post-natal depression after her son's birth in an exclusive interview with The Mirror.

Jess, who has launched her own collection Jess Wright Baby with My 1st Years, says a 'dark cloud' hung over her during the first few weeks as she adjusted to life as a first-time mum - something which left her feeling confused and "very scared".

Not only that, Jess' self confidence took a dive when her psoriasis flared-up, leaving her feeling "ugly" and not knowing which way to turn.

Now, the reality star has spoken out about her struggles in the hope it will help other mums feel they are not alone.

"For about four weeks I really suffered with post partum depression. It was just very, very strange feeling. I couldn't really enjoy Presley as much as I wanted to because I had this cloud over me. I was feeling low and not knowing why. I was just very scared", she says.

Jess says she turned to her husband and mum Carol to support her through the rough patch.

"I feel a million times better now. I think its very underplayed the baby blues, it needs to be spoken about more. I think it needs to be addressed more.

"Before I had Presley I knew about the baby blues but I didn't think I'd get like that. It's something that's really, really quite hard that women go through. You just have to be strong."

While Jess is feeling much better within herself - that's not to say she's not faced a battle with her self confidence as her skin condition psoriasis flared up, leaving her with angry red patches of flaking skin across her body.

After documenting her battle on her Instagram platform earlier this month, the TV star says: "It took me a while to post that. You feel ugly with it you just do you feel unattractive. It's hard to dress.

"It's really itchy now as well, it's the worst its ever been. I think it's a combination of hormones from having the baby and also stress and lack and sleep. My immune system is low.

"I've had so much support which is overwhelming. It's amazing but at the same time, you don't know which way to turn."

But Jess says being a mum has changed her world for the better.

"It's been amazing but it's definitely a rollercoaster," she says. "It's crazy. A whirlwind, you're thrown out of the hospital you're expected to know what to do and every moment is like "oh my gosh am I doing this right?"

"It's gone so quick, he's a proper little boy now with hilarious personality. It's just been lovely.

"I think the highs of being a mum, it's the best thing in the world. Seeing that little baby smile back at you and the love that you have for someone is unconditional."

Of her new collection with My 1st Years, Jess said: "It's an amazing new collab with my favourite children and baby's website. "hey do the most amazing adorable gifts for children but not only that, they personalise everything. I was beyond excited, it's always been my go to.

"With Presley it's nice to do this with him. People can use the code Jess20 for 20 per cent off the collection."
