Jess Phillips absolutely monsters Boris Johnson over his 'parental responsibilities'

Jess Phillips launched a furious attack on Boris Johnson, reeling off a string of brutal zingers about his 'parental responsibilites.'

She opened by paying tribute to departing Speaker John Bercow, noting his children were watching his final PMQs from the Commons gallery.

MPs laughed as Ms Phillips said: "While you have a responsibility to Parliament, I know you take your responsibilities as a parent incredibly seriously also.

"...and now to the Prime Minister."

She went on to attack the PM over super-sized classrooms and schools being forced to run four-day weeks.

"Today is my son Danny's 11th birthday," she went on. "Thanks to the years of cuts voted for by the Prime Minister, Danny, my son, and hundreds of children in Birmingham Yardley are in supersized classes and are only being educated four-and-a-half days a week.

"I don't want to hear his fancy stock answers about Brexit or Russia, that he's been giving from his little folder.

"I don't want to hear his campaign ad answer, because my son won't be able to go to school on Friday, so his campaign ad answer does nothing for me as a parent."

Ms Phillips planted her hands on her hips as Tory MPs began to laugh and joke.

Visibly exasperated, she said: "I'm so glad you think it's really funny that people can't go to school five days a week."

She went on: "The Prime Minister is responsible for the children in this country.

"And while he might struggle with that personally I would like to know will he today commit that there will be a minimum (sic) number of children in every class post the election and every single child will be able to go to school for five days a week?"

In response, the Prime Minister wished Danny a happy birthday, and claimed, her son would have "the best possible chance" of his school having the funding it needs and a "better chance" of a getting a good job and his own home under a Tory government.

He did not answer any of Ms Phillips' questions.
