Singer Jess Glynne has hit out at ITV producers after her girlfriend Alex Scott was kicked off I’m A Celebrity, complaining that they didn’t give her enough airtime to show “how incredible she really is”.
The former Lioness was the first star to get booted out of the jungle on Friday night after just 14 days in the competition.
After the 41-year-old’s exit, the singer took to Instagram to commend her girlfriend’s efforts.
Jess, 36, wrote: “My woman might be out far earlier than she ever deserved, but I'm so unbelievably proud of her,
“She didn't get the airtime to show how incredible she really is, and trust me, this is only the beginning.'
The popstar went on to explain how she was unable to meet Alex on the bridge as her mum had suffered a “major stroke and underwent brain surgery”.
She said, “I know people will wonder why I wasn't there at the end of the bridge, so I wanted to share something personal.
“Over the last few weeks my mum suffered a major stroke and needed urgent brain surgery.
“It's been really serious, life-altering time for my family and I've had to stay close to home.”
She finished: “I can't wait to have her back by my side.”
Scott, who presents Football Focus, was instead met by her friend Regan Coleman, who travelled back to her hotel with her.
After exiting, she told hosts Ant and Dec: “I'm free! It feels strange and doesn't feel real. Now I'm like, "Oh, I'm out."'
When she was asked if she was disappointed to be the first one out, Alex said: “Oh no! It has been an incredible experience, and mentally it has been tough, but I am so glad I got to do it with so many amazing campmates.
“The laughter we have had, and we really connected and making the bonds that we did.”

She was then shown a video of her sneaking in salt to add to the rice, which she laughed at, explaining: “I don't know how many I took in, I just put them in my sock.
“The first few days, I put it on a spoon, and Jack sprinkled it in the rice, and so my campmates did know about it.”
She told the TV presenters that the worst part of her experience in the jungle was “the toilet situation”, which she blamed on campmate Martin Kemp.
She said, “The smell is awful and someone keeps leaving the seat up, but we can't say anything because he is a national treasure.”
Before taking her final walk across the iconic bridge, Alex shared who she hopes will win the show: “Shona to win, Ginge and Aitch are great and would love to see them in the final, but I think if Shona wins, it will give her the confidence.”
