Jess Glynne explains the reason why she pulled out of Isle of Wight show at last minute

Jess Glynne has explained the real reason why she was a no-show at the Isle of Wight festival on Sunday night.

The announcement, that was made minutes before she was due on the main stage, left some fans who had travelled to see her in tears.

However the pop star has spoken out today with a heartfelt message on Twitter explaining she was "full of anxiety".

She told her 396k followers : "I got ready and was about to head to stage but I just couldn't do it. I was incredibly weak and full of anxiety...

"I can't help that my body sometimes gives up on me.

"I am so, so gutted, sorry and upset that I couldn't perform yesterday," she posted.

Glynne recently performed as the supporting act throughout the Spice World tour across the UK - covering 13 shows.

She went on: "The last thing I ever want to do is let people down, I am sorry to anyone who I upset, it was not my intention."

Isle of Wight festival organisers tweeted on Sunday to explain Glynne was "physically exhausted".

Hundreds of unhappy fans took to Twitter to share their opinions about the singer's absence from the south west festival.

One user said: "Exhaustion is working for the NHS doing 14 hours shifts! And on your weekend you rarely get off you go see someone you always wanted to, to be let down. Just saying".

While another posted: "She can turn up to party with the Spice Girls the night before but then let the Isle of Wight down again, then shame on her."

Acknowledging the rumours, Glynne added: "Kills me having to explain myself but I've seen so much negativity online and in the press and it's so frustrating and a load of bulls**t and I refuse to be made to feel like a bad person."

The red-head singer has previously cancelled an Isle of Wight festival performance back in 2015 to undergo throat surgery.

She also cancelled a performance at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Middlesbrough earlier last month.
