Jess Glynne CANCELS Radio 1 Big Weekend gig moments before performance leaving crowds furious

Jess Gylnne pulled out of Radio 1’s Big Weekend just hours before she was due to take the stage in Middlesbrough.

The news was broken to the booing crowd of thousands of music fans by Radio 1 breakfast show host Greg James.

He said the Thursday singer was unable to perform after losing her voice.

The crowd booed as he apologised for having to be “the bearer of bad news”.

He joked he’s been “thrown to the crowd”.

Her 6.15pm slot on the main stage on Saturday will be filled by Khalid, who was due to be performing on The 1 For New Music stage at the same time.

The Radio 1 festival will also see acts including Miley Cyrus, Stormzy, Little Mix and The 1975 taking to the stage.

Former breakfast show DJ, Nick Grimshaw, told Mirror Online the feeling his fellow DJ's have when the Big Weekend arrives.

He said: "I’m very excited. I really can’t wait. The whole office go so it feels like we’re going off on a school trip.

"I’m just happy to be doing it with Annie because we’ve not done a show together for ages."

He added: "The line up is mega, there’s loads of people I’m really excited about seeing and some of them have incredible summers of festivals ahead of them and we’ve got them first which is great.

"I’m really excited to see Stormzy, I loved the last record and I saw him at Glastonbury loads of times years ago in little tents and he’s such an incredible performer so I can’t wait to see him and hear new stuff hopefully.

"Billie Eilish I want to see and slowthai is one of my favourite live performers I’ve seen lately."
