Jersey Shore's The Situation reveals what prison was really like with smuggled food and a hierarchy

Jersey Shore star The Situation spent eight months in prison for tax evasion before getting released last month.

And now the reality TV alum, 37, has now opened up what life was like inside, as he spoke about how he managed to get through his sentence.

The Situation, whose real name is Mike Sorrentino, said there was a hierarchy of prisoners in there, with those who had been locked up years being the ones who were in charge.

He compared the experience to Netflix prison drama Orange is the New Black.

Mike would watch episodes of Jersey Shore behind bars and because the older men liked him he was allowed to have control of the TV whenever he wanted.

He told Snooki on her podcast: "You had to pretty much get permission from some of the guys that have been in there for years and years and years to be like, 'Listen, can I watch the TV show that I'm on tonight on Thursday night?' I had to get permission from the Russians.

"They were running most of the prison - the Russians and the Spanish communities."

Mike revealed that prisoners would get takeaways delivered to the grounds and sneak them in.

He added: "Inmates would actually get Chinese food delivered to the bushes of the woods, I guess, the forest?

"I wonder what you'd say when it's time to deliver. 'Yeah, just make a left and drop it in the woods! Shove it behind the fifth bush."

Mike said he never heard of any of the inmates having sex, but did see some flirting going on between the older men.

His sentence overlapped with that of President Donald Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen.

He says he asked him to smuggle in some chicken but Cohen never came through.

Mike's wife Lauren would send him magazines to keep him up to date with the outside world.

And when he was released, he went straight back to filming Jersey Shore.
