Jersey has now reopened its borders to Brits for holidays

Jersey has officially reopened its borders to British holidaymakers from today (April 26). The largest of the Channel Islands is now welcoming tourists from the UK and other Crown Dependencies.

Any visitors will need to have a negative PCR test taken prior to arrival, and will need to fill out a pre-departure form.

England, Scotland and Wales all allow for non-essential travel to Jersey, provided you're travelling with your own household, although Northern Ireland currently allows essential trips only (such as for work).

Anyone arriving into Jersey will also be tested on arrival, and will need to self-isolate until a negative result is confirmed. The island has introduced a fast track border testing system, meaning you won't wait more than up to 12 hours for your result, to allow you to make the most of your trip.

You'll also need to declare any destinations you've travelled to in the last 14 days - you can find more details on gov.je.

The Channel Island is gearing up for a successful summer. When it first announced borders would reopen from today (April 26), the Visit Jersey website saw a 48% increase in UK traffic as Brits looked for holiday ideas.

Meanwhile Condor Ferries, which offers routes between the UK and Jersey, has been seeing a 22% increase in website traffic.

Amanda Burns, Chief Executive Officer of Visit Jersey, said: "As part of the British Isles, we are excited to welcome back visitors and much-loved island friends. Jersey offers space to enjoy our pristine beaches and unique island for all it has to offer across miles of uninterrupted coastline.

"We know British holidaymakers have been longing for a well-deserved getaway and we can’t wait to offer something different after a difficult year of restrictions. By re-introducing our Safer Travel Guidance, visitors can feel safe while making the most of their staycation break."
