Jersey Boys back on in Newcastle after cancellation due to cast illness as ticket advice issued

Jersey Boys is officially back on in Newcastle, after a sold out performance on Saturday was cancelled as illness spread through the cast.

Fans looking forward to hearing Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons' hits like Beggin' and Let's Hang On were left disappointed just two hours before curtain up when the Theatre Royal issued a statement on social media, confirming the evening performance of the smash hit musical had been scrapped, right after the matinee went ahead.

After explaining Jersey Boys had been pulled due to illness, the post added: "We understand that this is disappointing and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

“We never take the decision to cancel a performance lightly and will only do so in exceptional circumstances when all other options to enable the show to go ahead as planned have been explored.”

There was better news for anyone with a ticket for the show on Monday, September 5 as the theatre returned to Facebook late on Monday morning with a positive update confirming the 7.30pm performance would be going ahead as planned.

The late in the day cancellation on Saturday came after some fans had shelled out on hotels for the night and the fresh update had advice for anyone who had tickets for that performance, adding: "Customers of the cancelled Jersey Boys performance on Saturday 3 September, 7.30pm will be contacted via email in the next few hours with options to transfer to another performance, receive a credit note or full refund.

" We thank you for your patience and understanding."
