Nottingham Forest have been set a reported £5m price tag if they wish to pursue Blackpool hot-shot Jerry Yates.
And another team is said to have been added to the list of those interested in securing his signature, as the race for the in-demand striker ramps up.
If the Seasiders do look to sell the 24-year-old, Yates is likely to have his pick of clubs after a campaign which saw him play a key role in clinching promotion to the Championship.
The Reds are believed to be among those keen on the front man, along with Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Rangers.
Contract 'offered'
Nottingham Forest-linked Mathieu Peybernes is said to have been offered a contract at Real Zaragoza.
A year after first being credited with an interest in the centre-back, the Reds were said to be eyeing him up again this summer as part of their squad overhaul.
As were Championship rivals Swansea City, amid reports they had seen a £2m bid turned down 12 months ago, while it was also suggested some French clubs were keen.
Peybernes, though, spent the second half of last season on loan at Zaragoza from fellow Spanish side Almeria. And it seems they are intent on signing him on a permanent basis.
Point to prove
The significance around Nottingham Forest’s transfer window is obvious. The Reds need to bring players in, if they are to push for a top six place next term.
But it also shouldn’t be underestimated how important this summer can be for many of those already at the club.
After a disappointing year, Forest need to do better.
Chris Hughton will get valuable time on the training pitch with his squad when they return for pre-season training.
Whether there will be any new faces by then remains to be seen, but there will be a fair few players with a point to prove as they look to impress the manager.
Forest family
A fundraising drive has stepped up a gear as former Nottingham Forest teammates have come together to support one of their own.
Friends and family have been rallying together for some time to raise funds for Treetops Hospice, who are providing care for the terminally ill wife of Reds legend Garry Birtles, Samantha, who has pancreatic cancer.
And their efforts are continuing apace, with fellow European Cup winner Tony Woodcock this week launching a new fundraising initiative titled ‘Nottingham’s Very Own’.
Expressing his desire to create a ‘Nottingham movement’, Woodcock’s idea sees people from the city and county able to purchase a personalised plaque.
