Jerry Yates in Rangers transfer address as he makes confession over 'nice feeling' while Blackpool open exit door

Striker Jerry Yates has admitted it's a "nice feeling" to be linked with clubs like Rangers with reports suggesting Blackpool are ready to sell their star man.

The Seasiders face a relegation scrap as they look to keep their place in the English Championship, but despite sitting 23rd in the table during the World Cup break, Yates has enjoyed an impressive personal campaign. The 26-year-old has been in fine form so far this term and picked up the Player of the Month award after netting three doubles among his seven goals and an assist in seven games in October.

Rangers have previously been mentioned as an admirer of the attacker in the summer, and reports suggest that interest has not faded since his impressive start to the season. Several reports south of the border state that Gio van Bronckhorst and sporting director Ross Wilson are weighing up a bid in the region of £2million as the look to kickstart their Scottish Premiership title bid.

However, the Blackpool Gazette report that figure is set to fall well short of the asking price. Blackpool reportedly want £5million for the player who only penned a new three-year contract in the summer.

It is claimed "a compromise could be found" when the window reopens as the club look to reinvest the cash in the playing staff amid their fight for survival in the English second tier. With rumours circling, Yates was put on the spot about his future on Sky Sports.

The striker was quizzed about Rangers with West Brom also being named as an interest party. He said: "It's a nice feeling, but I'm happy at Blackpool. I've got a few more years left on my contract here."
