Jerry Jones: La'el Collins 'really improving,' expected to return later this month

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday morning that he's expecting offensive guard La'el Collins to return later this month. Collins has been sidelined since tearing a ligament in his right big toe in Week 3.

Collins had surgery on Oct. 4 and was placed on the injured reserve designated to return list.

"He's really improving," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan's G-Bag Nation show (KRLD-FM). "That gives us depth going into the playoffs."

Ron Leary has performed well as the team's starting left guard in place of Collins. During their Friday radio interviews, Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones avoided discussing a potential position battle between Leary and Collins.

"We don't worry about those things," Stephen Jones said on The Fan's Ben and Skin show. "Right now we're worried about the Giants."

Jerry Jones said it was unlikely the Cowboys would move Collins to offensive tackle, the position he played in college.
