Jerry Jones Expresses Frustration in Cowboys’ 'Sloppy' Win

Even though the Cowboys pulled out a 20-17 win over the Chargers on Monday Night Football, Dallas owner Jerry Jones was still very critical of the game.

The Cowboys moved to 4-2 on the season with the win, but Jones felt like the team wasn’t performing at its best.

“I felt it was as disjointed or sloppy a game as—maybe that’s a strong word—for both sides,” Jones said on Tuesday’s 105.3 The Fan. “I really thought the game was, relatively speaking statistically, was even. ... Penalties evened out. The stats were real even on the game. It was a hard fought game, they’re a good team.”

Monday's game was indeed sloppy, with the Cowboys and Chargers combining for 20 penalties on the night. Dallas was flagged 11 times, further raising their average on the season to 7.7 penalties per game. Only the Seahawks average more.

While Jones started his assessment with a harsh outlook on the game, he later admitted he was “proud" the Cowboys finished victorious as the Chargers are a tough opponent.

“I’m really proud that we got out there and had that kind of win against them,” Jones said.

The Cowboys enter their bye week after the win, where they might try to sort out the “sloppiness” of their playing.
