Jermon Bushrod tries recruiting Wizards’ Bradley Beal for Pelicans

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of the New Orleans Pelicans, and few people are more aware of that than the players in the New Orleans Saints locker room. One of those supporters is offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod, who doesn’t want the Pelicans to leave the trader’s table after shipping off Anthony Davis.

The trade target in Bushrod’s crosshairs is Bradley Beal, a 25-year-old shooting guard for the Washington Wizards who averaged 25.6 points per game last year. Shams Charania reported for the Athletic that the Pelicans have real interest in Beal, who they could maybe land with some of the assets they won from the Los Angeles Lakers.

That’s music to Bushrod’s ears, who added his voice to the speculation on social media.

“Aye bro,” Bushrod wrote on his official Twitter account, “I already got your dinner reservations set up when you touch down in New Orleans.” Bushrod later added that he hopes to “speak it into existence,” much like LaVar Ball, who was adamant and very public in his hopes of a trade getting his son Lonzo away from the Lakers. Lonzo, of course, joined the Pelicans as part of the trade that sent Davis packing.

It’s fun to see Saints players crossing over and taking such an interest in what their neighbors might be up to. It’s also fun to speculate on where Bushrod may take Beal out in New Orleans, one of the best culinary cities in the world — and if anyone knows its food scene well, it’s an offensive lineman. The Pelicans took presumptive top NBA Draft pick Zion Williamson to Commander’s Palace in the famous New Orleans Garden District, per WDSU. Where should Bushrod meet up with Beal, if they’re able?
