Jermaine Jenas takes issue with Paul Pogba comments about Ruben Neves in Man United vs Wolves

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas has disagreed with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba about the challenge made on Wolves' Ruben Neves during Sunday's Premier League clash at Molineux.

In the build-up to Mason Greenwood's winner to secure a 1-0 win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, it was claimed by Neves that Pogba had committed a foul on the Wolves player when trying to win the ball.

As Greenwood wheeled away in delight to celebrate his third goal in as many matches, Wolves' players, plus head coach Bruno Lage, pleaded with referee Mike Dean to chalk the goal off and award a free-kick in their favour.

However, despite replays showing that Neves was caught by Pogba, Dean allowed the goal to stand.

After the game, Pogba declared that he had won a 50-50 battle with Neves for possession and had come out on top.

However, Match of the Day pundit Jenas was unimpressed with Pogba's remarks, insisting that it was a foul and the incident was 60-40 in Neves' favour.

Jenas told BBC Sport : "Paul Pogba there, in the interview that we just witnessed, he said it is a 50-50.

"It’s not. It’s 60-40 in Neves’s favour. It’s a bad touch from Paul Pogba. The ball gets away from him, and he’s reaching and he’s stretching."

The incident is bound to attract more controversy and attention in the coming days, with Wolves most certainly feeling aggrieved that the goal should not have stood.

On the challenge, Wolves boss Lage commented: "I didn’t talk with him [Neves], I see his leg, for me it’s clear, but also important to think about it."
