It was a mad night on Merseyside as Spurs crashed out of the FA Cup to Everton.
There were goals and drama aplenty as the two sides went at it hammer and tongs for a place in the quarter-finals of the grand old competition.
Tottenham controlled proceedings early on with some crisp one-touch passing and deservedly led 1-0 thanks to a Davinson Sanchez header.
they might have been more head, but for some profligate finishing and some good saves from Everton keeper Robin Olsen.
And they were made to pay for those missed chances when Everton went on a scoring blitz, netting three goals in eight minutes to move 3-1 in front.
Erik Lamela pulled a goal back right on half-time and another Sanchez goal made it 3-3 after the break.
More was to come.
Richarlison put Everton back in front, before substitute Harry Kane scored with a diving header to send the game into extra-time.
In the extra 30 minutes it was Everton who secured safe passage into the last eight when Bernard netted, with Spurs unable to find another response.
It was a thrilling encounter, not in keeping with the way Spurs have been playing under Jose Mourinho in the last few months.
While Spurs may have been dumped out of the competition, supporters will have enjoyed the free-flowing football served up given the mediocre defensive showings of late.
And Jermaine Jenas, a former Spurs player who does not hide his support for the club when he appears on BT Sport, summed up how all Tottenham fans will be feeling after that display.
Speaking after the game ended, he said: "Once the mistakes stop it feels like that was a Tottenham side you can really get behind."
Hugo Lloris, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Davinson Sanchez and Harry Winks all made mistakes in the build-up to Everton goals, which scuppered any hopes of victory on the night.
