Jermaine Jenas slams 'boring' Everton over defeat to Wolves

Match of the Day pundit Jermaine Jenas has slammed Everton for their performance against Wolves.

Carlo Ancelotti's men were defeated 3-0 at Molineux with an abject display which saw them land just two shots on target across a forgettable afternoon.

Everton came under criticism from their boss after the game, and it wasn't just the Italian who had a few choice words for the under-par Toffees.

Former Spurs winger turned pundit Jenas issued a brutal verdict on the display, describing Everton as 'boring'.

"It was poor, it really was. It was boring and predictable," he said on Match of the Day 2. "The lack of imagination and the negative mindset of the team is worrying at times.

"It was just like it was part of them to go ‘no, we are just going to go backwards and keep the ball’. In midfield, Sigurdsson and Davies are doing the same job, standing next to each other. One of them needs to go and find a bit of space, break the line.

"Your two centre forwards are making the same run. They don’t do anything except watch the man on the ball. No movement and no surprise, they are going backwards again. Sigurdsson is better than this. You need a relationship with your strikers.

"You have a speed merchant in Theo Walcott but players will make runs if they know the ball is going to be played. You stop making those runs when you know the ball is going to go backwards.

"Put the ball at risk now and again, see what happens. They didn’t and it was a boring display."

The defeat leaves Everton in 11th place with just three games remaining.

Ancelotti's men face Aston Villa and Sheffield United before finishing their season at home to Bournemouth.
