BT Sport pundit Jermaine Jenas has shared his thoughts on Jose Mourinho's decision to make a very early substitution in the Champions League clash with Olympiacos.
The Greek side stormed into a surprising 2-0 lead after just 20 minutes in Mourinho's first home game in charge of Tottenham, issuing a significant blow to Spurs' hopes of securing their spot in the knockout stages of Europe's elite competition.
That led to a very early change from the home side, as Mourinho replaced Eric Dier with Christian Eriksen with just 28 minutes on the clock.
When asked how Dier would have reacted to the change, Jenas admitted he would be furious - but added that he could understand the decision.
"You'd be fuming, you'd be absolutely fuming, to be taken off after 28 minutes, that's not going to go down well," he said on BT Sport's commentary.
"But I have to say, watching the game, he would be one that you would take off. He looks heavy, he looks a bit sluggish out there and maybe they need a bit more creation rather than somebody so defensive in the game."
Victory for Spurs against Olympiacos would seal the club's spot in the knockout stages of the competition, with the draw for the Round of 16 stage held in mid-December.
Defeat, however, would leave Tottenham requiring a result away from home against Bayern Munich or needing a favour from Red Star Belgrade in the final round of group-stage fixtures next month.
