Jermaine Jenas says he ‘lost everything’ after BBC sacking

  • Jermaine Jenas has said he’s been "punished heavily" after complaints about workplace conduct led to him being dismissed by the BBC in August 2024.
  • The former footballer lost his roles on Match Of The Day and The One Show after messages he sent to two women came to light. His wife, Ellie Penfold, announced months after his sacking that the couple had split up.
  • Appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain , Jenas said he had "lost everything essentially – my job, my family".
  • When asked if he apologised to the women he sent messages to, he added: “I’ve always apologised. I’ve always apologised to everybody that was involved in it, whether it was the women who I was messaging and that was messaging me.”
  • Jenas said he accepts “those punishments” resulting from his actions, adding: “I put myself in that position, and that’s where the learning comes from, and that’s where I have to now look forward as to what it is I’m going to be doing next.”
