Jermaine Jenas has defended Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and explained who has let him down in the Champions League clash at RB Leipzig.
Spurs trail 2-0 in Germany on the night and 3-0 on aggregate after a poor start to the second leg.
Whilst Tottenham were down by the same deficit against Ajax last season in the Champions League semi-finals, there isn't a lot of hope that the Londoners can turn things around this time.
But Jenas stopped short of hammering Mourinho in the first half after a tough first 30 minutes for his side.
Unlike the BT Sport pundits who criticised the Portuguese manager pre-game, Jenas defended the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss.
"Tottenham had the tactics right and started the game well," Jenas told BT Sport on commentary.
"If you're the manager like Jose is, there are certain things that you just cannot legislate for."
Spurs showed the weaknesses down their right-hand side in the early going as Marcel Sabitzer bagged a brace in the first half.
Jenas added: "The first one is definitely a goalkeeping mistake and Serge Aurier has to do much better on the second one. He (Mourinho) is just going to have to ask them to keep going."
