Jermaine Jenas pinpoints key concern about Harry Kane and Tottenham after Newcastle defeat

Jermaine Jenas claims that Harry Kane's all-round play so far this season will be a cause for concern for Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham.

The Spurs striker has netted twice so far this season, but has struggled to have much of an impact in Tottenham's last two matches against Manchester City and Newcastle.

This was summed up by the fact that he had the fewest touches of any Tottenham player in the 1-0 defeat against Newcastle, with Kane touching the ball just 24 times in the 90 minutes.

And Jenas says that will be a worry for Spurs and manager Pochettino ahead of the Lilywhites' clash with north London rivals Arsenal this weekend.

“Harry Kane has been really poor as yet. He got his two goals [against Aston Villa] to dispel the talk of the August situation," the former Tottenham midfielder said, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“But the facts are he didn’t do much against [Manchester City] or Villa in terms of his general play and he didn't against Newcastle either.

"That is something that is a worry, and I am sure that the manager will be looking at it."

But while Jenas was critical of Kane's performances so far this season, he insists that he has the quality to turn things around, and that it may only take one goal to do so.

“He has been poor. But he was for large periods against Villa, and then popped up with a couple of goals," Jenas added.

"If you give him a chance he has that quality.”
