Jermaine Jenas outlines the one worry he has ahead of Newcastle's favourable run of fixtures

Former Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas is worried Newcastle's system will not be conducive to gaining positive results from their upcoming favourable run of fixtures.

The former England international was part of the BT Sport coverage of Saturday's 2-2 draw with Manchester City and was impressed by the performance of his former side.

Newcastle now have a four game run of fixtures without facing any of the traditional top six sides and from the outside looking in, it seems a golden opportunity for the Magpies to consolidate their Premier League status by picking up valuable points.

Jenas shares that view but is also fearful that Newcastle's best performances have been against the stronger sides this season

"They are the more tricky games for this team, purely and simply because can you play that counter-attacking way that really suits them? If Southampton come to town, these fans are expecting something different than they saw today, they are expecting them to dominate.

"You have to open up a little bit to do that and they might get picked off a little bit in the future. That balance is something Steve needs to work on with the team but there is no doubt in my mind with that run of fixtures they can pick up some results that can really solidify their position in the league."
