Jermaine Jenas has urged Jose Mourinho to engage in some 'harsh conversations' with the Tottenham board about the quality of the squad he has available.
Mourinho has had to deal without Harry Kane among others in recent months due to injury and it's impacted the play on the field.
But Jenas feels that Tottenham's problems stretch way beyond that, with the former midfielder speaking out during the 3-0 loss at RB Leipzig this evening.
The result led to a 4-0 aggregate defeat for Mourinho's men in their last 16 Champions League tie and Jenas now insists that something must be done in the summer transfer window to change the club's fortunes.
"They have not been good enough over two legs," Jenas said during commentary of the clash on BT Sport.
"There will have to be some harsh conversations between Jose Mourinho and the board about the players that are not good enough to continue at this club.
"There should be a lot of changes made if they are going to be the club they say they are going to be with the training ground and things like that."
Meanwhile, Tottenham sit eighth in the Premier League and seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Jenas added that hopes of qualifying for the Champions League again next term may already be gone for his old team.
"They are going to have to rely on teams in good form such as Chelsea, Manchester United and others dropping points. Spurs are the polar opposite at the moment," Jenas added.
"You wouldn't bet on them to make the top four."
