Jermaine Jenas names the young Arsenal player Unai Emery should be playing on a regular basis

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas has picked out a young Arsenal player as one to watch in the Premier League this season.

Jenas has been full of praise for midfielder Joe Willock, who has now made four appearances for the Gunners this season in the Premier League, after coming off the bench in the 2-2 draw against Watford at Vicarage Road yesterday (Sunday).

And Jenas feels that he should be playing more often in Unai Emery's side, having impressed at times in his brief career to date for Arsenal.

Speaking on BBC programme MOTDx, Jenas singled out the 20-year-old Arsenal midfielder as one of the most exciting young players in the top flight to look out for this season.

“I am going to go with Joe Willock. He is powerful, a good runner and he has played a bit deeper at times, but I watched him when he came on in the final in the Europa League against Chelsea – and he could have scored then," said Jenas.

“I think Arsenal have got a good one there. I would play him, I think he should be in their team on a regular basis."

Willock, who made his professional debut for the club in 2017 in the EFL Cup against Doncaster Rovers, has played a further 20 times for the Gunners since then, scoring three goals.

He recently signed a new long-term contract with the club, with the deal believed to run until the end of the 2022/23 season, while Willock has spoken of his pride at continuing his journey with the Gunners, having been associated with the club since the age of four.

"It is only right in my heart and my mind to continue my career here," he told Arsenal's official club website .

"The manager has put a lot of faith in not just me but a load of youngsters so far this season - every day in training he is encouraging to us."
