Jermaine Jenas names the Jose Mourinho change at Spurs to take them to the next level

Former Tottenham Hotspur player Jermaine Jenas has said that the arrival of Jose Mourinho  will shift the mentality of the entire club, but it will take time to happen.

Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the hot seat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month after a poor start to the season.

Spurs have won four of their six games in all competitions under the new head coach, and Jenas believes that Mourinho is the right man to take the Lilywhites to the next level.

"Lets be honest, Tottenham have, for many years been a certain type of football club. They didn't have the mentality of what it's like at Manchester United or Liverpool or Arsenal - these teams that have been winning things for a number of years," he said on BBC Five Live .

"They didn't have that mentlity for a long time as a football club, but since Mauricio Pochettino came in he shifted that mentality to a whole different place which is why they started consstently qualifying for Champions League football, and the club has now shifted again.

"But for it to shift as much as they want it to shift, they bought in the man man to do that.

"Once he gets the time to implement the mentality, how his team set up, they will become that.

"But, he's not even a month into his job. We're not going to see it yet. We've seen a shift in Tottenham already, the goals and the way the team set up, that's going to come."

Jenas has highlighted the main area that the Portuguese manager has already changed at the club.

"Mourinho is known best for looking at a team, 'who are my best players? That's what I'm going to focus on'," he added.

"Right now, he's having to outscore teams to win games because he knows that the best part of his team is the front four. The rest of it, anything can happen. But he knows every single game he goes into he's going to score goals."
