Jermaine Jenas reckons Chelsea and Manchester City could dominate European football for the next few years.
The Blues will face Manchester City in the Champions League final later this month, after Chelsea defeated Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the competition, while Pep Guardiola's men knocked out Paris Saint-Germain in the last four.
Before that, the two sides are set to meet in the Premier League tomorrow, with Chelsea travelling to face City at the Etihad Stadium, with Guardiola's men on the verge of winning the title.
A victory against Chelsea tomorrow would secure the league title for City, but Jenas is confident that the result in that game will have no bearing on the final on May 29.
However, he is confident that both City and Chelsea could be dominant forces in Europe over the coming years.
"These two teams are young, they have got depth in their teams," he said, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"There is no doubt with Chelsea with their owner, they can quite easily go into the market this summer and do some damage in the with regards to the striker they so desperately need, in my opinion.
"Whether that is [Sergio] Aguero as a buffer for a season, or whether they go for [Erling] Haaland, they are one of the clubs that could test Dortmund this summer.
"For me, they are the clubs that could dominate in Europe for the next couple of years. But there are a few caveats, Manchester United could become part of that conversation if they can get that striker, and Liverpool will be part of that conversation.
"But they have definitely left others in their wake, as far as I am concerned."
However, Jenas has said that despite Chelsea winning when the two sides last met in the FA Cup semi-final last month, he says he feels that Manchester City are the better team, as things stand, and will go into the Champions League final as favourites.
"It is not a massive gap, but City are a better team," he said.
"Defensively they are good both sides, but City have the better players and in my opinion, they are a better team.
"If City play they way they know how and go in with the mindset that they are the better team with the better players, I think they will win the game."
