Jermaine Jenas believes that an FA Cup third round replay with Middlesbrough could actually benefit Jose Mourinho and Tottenham, despite adding to a busy schedule.
Spurs will have to do it all again with Middlesbrough following a 1-1 draw at the Riverside Stadium, with Tottenham unable to find a winner after Lucas Moura had cancelled out Ashley Fletcher's opener for Boro.
As a result, the two sides will now meet again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with a place in the fourth round of the competition at stake.
But while Jenas admits that is not ideal for Spurs amid a number of injury problems, including being without top goalscorer Harry Kane and midfielders Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko, the former Tottenham midfielder said a replay will provide an opportunity for Mourinho to see some other players in action.
“Yeah I would say so. They have some huge games coming up, with Liverpool and Manchester City in the mix in the next five games," he said, when asked if a replay was the last thing Mourinho and Spurs would have wanted.
“But at the same time, he needs games to get them to start playing well.
"There is a lot of work to be done, and that’s exactly why these games may not be a bad thing.”
