Jermaine Jenas believes Newcastle United can be optimistic over their survival chances this season despite dropping points with a 1-1 draw with Wolves.
The Magpies went ahead in the game and created numerous chances to score more than once but they were unable to add to their lead before being pegged back in a frustrating draw.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Jenas said that Newcastle's positive approach in the game should bode well for future matches.
Yet he admitted their injuries going forward, with Miguel Almiron and Allain Saint-Maximin both joining Callum Wilson in the treatment room, are concerning.
He said: "The performances, in sections of the game, have been top. Today was another one of those - there was a section in this game where they should have put the game to bed.
"The chances they created and the energy they had going forward, look at the numbers they’re getting forward.
"Now they’re without Wilson, Almiron and Saint-Maximin as well. You see what Saint-Maximin brings to the table."
Steve Bruce opted to change goalkeepers for the game, with Martin Dubravka replacing Karl Darlow between the sticks.
Jenas' fellow Match of the Day pundit Micah Richards felt the decision was a harsh one but admitted that both goalkeepers have their strengths.
He said: "I thought it was harsh taking Darlow out, if I’m being totally honest. But they’re two top quality goalkeepers.
"I think if I’m being critical here for Neves' goal) he’d look at that himself and think he can do a little bit better.
"But the save at the end is absolutely incredible, his reactions, you think it’s a goal - but no."
