Jermaine Jenas has backed Tammy Abraham to be a real success under Frank Lampard after winning his manager's trust.
The young striker has been a revelation since returning to west London over the summer following a number of loan spells with Bristol City, Swansea City and, most recently, Aston Villa.
Abraham has established himself as Chelsea's first choice striker this term, and speaking on BT Sports highlight show, Jenas said that it's no surprise that the frontman is reaping the rewards in front of goal.
He said: “He’s a goalscorer, it’s as simple as that.
"It’s a brilliant ball in by Tomori, look at that he picks out his man. I just think, the calmness, the touch, the awareness. A lot of players would think the goalkeeper is right on their toes here but once he takes his touch, he isn’t panicking.
"He’s in full control and he’s always in the middle of sticks, he’s always between the posts and that’s why he’s going to score a lot of goals.
“He’s a proper number nine, his confidence will be growing and he’s Frank’s main man. The fact he’s got that now, I’m giving back the trust you’ve given me by sticking the ball in the back of the net.”
