Jermaine Jenas believes Dele Alli will be 'itching' to get back into Jose Mourinho's plans.
Alli has featured sparingly in the opening stages of the season, left out of all but two of Tottenham's Premier League matchday squads so far.
He has featured in cup competition and came off the bench on Thursday night as Spurs comfortably defeated LASK in their first Europa League group stage clash of the season on Thursday night.
During commentary of that game, former Tottenham midfielder Jenas spoke about Alli and his current situation, suggesting the England international will be desperate to be part of a Spurs squad that oozes talent.
“There’s no way he can look around him right now, look at his surroundings, look at the players at the football club right now and not want to be a part of it," said Jenas.
"Obviously, his pride is gonna be dented, it’s gonna be hurt. But we need to remember, he’s 24 years of age, and he’s done so much in such a short space of time and people forget that it’s hard to maintain those standards at times.
"He’ll be itching to get back on the good side of Jose and Jose knows what he can bring to the table, but he’s got to get back in the team first.”
Questions over Alli's future came up after the midfielder and Mourinho had heated discussions on the club's Amazon documentary, transfer links with PSG emerging during the window.
But Mourinho has maintained Alli is still part of his puzzle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, even if he is out of favour currently following a number of summer signings.
Alli signed a contract extension in 2018, keeping him at the club until 2024.
