Jermaine Jenas' brutal assessment of Tottenham that will worry Spurs fans after Olympiacos clash

Jermaine Jenas believes it is worrying for Tottenham that they have now thrown away a two-goal lead for a second time this season.

Mauricio Pochettino's men looked to be cruising to victory after Harry Kane opened the scoring from the penalty spot for Spurs , before Lucas Moura smashed the ball home from just outside the box to double the advantage for the visitors.

But Daniel Podence pulled a goal back for Olympiacos just before the break, before Mathieu Valbuena equalised from the penalty spot for the Greek side, after he was challenged in the box by Jan Vertonghen.

And Jenas, who played more than 200 times for Spurs between 2005 and 2013, said it was a very average performance by Tottenham, and that if they continued to perform like that, they would not win anything.

"It’s twice now this season. 2-0 up. Concede a goal late at the end of the first half and get pegged back to 2-2," Jenas said while speaking as a commentator during BT Sport's coverage of the game, referring to Spurs' 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League earlier this month.

"It starts to define you as a team those types of things if it keeps happening. You have to look at the character of the team, the players in the team.

"Can you control a game of football? If this is something that is going to be a part of this Tottenham team they won’t win anything. They won’t go on and do more in this competition. It’s something they need to figure out. It’s worrying.

"It was a very average performance by Spurs. At 2-0 they [Olympiacos] were as flat as a pancake and they were trying to find a way of getting back in, but they will be delighted to be back at 2-2."
