Jermaine Jenas has echoed the view of John Terry that Leicester City defender Jonny Evans is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League.
The Leicester centre-back is facing a battle to be fit for the FA Cup final against Chelsea this afternoon, with the Northern Irishman missing the Foxes' last two matches due to an ongoing plantar fasciitis problem.
Evans was not involved as Leicester lost 4-2 against Newcastle United last Friday and then missed the 2-1 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford in midweek, although Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that he could be involved at Wembley.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said: “We’ll give him another day. He’s progressed really well in this last 24 hours.
"He was outside today and he looked very good. We’ll see what the reaction is after that and we’ll make the final decision on that. We're really hopeful."
Former Tottenham midfielder Jenas is sure that Evans will start the cup final as Leicester go in search of their first ever FA Cup success, having previously lost four times in the final of the prestigious cup competition.
And the BBC pundit has spoken glowingly of the 33-year-old and the impact he has had on Leicester.
"It is a huge miss, he has been the calming component in at centre-half for Leicester all season, he is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League, I think he's absolutely brilliant, I really do." he said, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live.
"They have shifted their formation without him, but did they look solid without him? I would say no.
"I would be absolutely shocked if Jonny Evans doesn't start, I really would. It is a painful injury, don't get me wrong, but I think he will find a way to get himself out there."
Jenas is not the first to call Evans underrated though.
That is because former Blues captain Terry has previously waxed lyrical about the former Manchester United defender.
Taking to Instagram following Leicester's 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion last month, Terry, posting a picture of the defender, said: "How good is Jonny Evans? The most underrated defender in the Premier League."
Chelsea have been warned.
