Jermaine Beckford says Jesse Marsch's trust in youngsters 'speaks volumes' after Bournemouth win

Former Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford has hailed Jesse Marsch's trust in his young talent after his side's comeback win over Bournemouth last weekend.

Sam Greenwood, Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville have stood out in recent weeks, with Summerville finding two late winners to give the Whites back-to-back wins in the Premier League.

Beckford made 152 appearances in all competitions for Leeds, scoring 85 goals including a famous winner over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup in 2010.

Speaking on the The Official Leeds Utd podcast, Beckford highlighted how good it was for his former side's manager to have so much belief in the young talent at his disposal.

"I was at Elland Road also... when you take Coops [Liam Cooper] out of the finishing eleven, and look at the age of everyone on the pitch, I think the average age was something like 24 so inexperience definitely plays a major part.

"But then for Jesse Marsch to be able to trust and believe in these guys, that in itself speaks absolute volumes. The mentality of 'Never say die, never say never, never give up', you've got to say fair play to him.

"He's been working on all sorts of different scenarios - playing against 10 men, playing with 10 men, drilling the players and it's worked. What else can you say? They did unbelievably well."
