Jermaine Beckford pinpoints what Patrick Bamford must do to change his Leeds United goal-scoring luck

Former Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford has fired a warning shot to Patrick Bamford that he must learn to get himself in the right areas to score more goals.

The Whites' number nine was once again selected ahead of Eddie Nketiah for their trip to Sheffield Wednesday.

However, after a frustrating first half that saw Bamford on the periphery of the game, bar a superb header that produced a fantastic save from Keiren Westwood.

Marcelo Bielsa opted to swap Bamford for Nketiah at half-time although it had little effect as the game ended 0-0 at Hillsborough, leaving Leeds with 25 points from their opening 14 matches.

That marked another game where Bamford had failed to get on the score sheet, with the striker last finding the net in August, nine games ago.

Former Leeds striker Beckford believes that Bamford needs to get himself in more goal-scoring positions, if he is to turn around his poor run of form in front of goal.

"I thought he played well with what he had but I wanted to see more from him. I wanted to see him pin defenders. He should be busting himself to get in the box," the former Whites fan favourite told Sky Sports after the game.

"I don't feel like he was in the right areas enough today. It seems like he has to think about where he needs to be rather than it just coming naturally to him.

"I know a lot of players who have it naturally who don't need coaching. We need to see that more often."
