Jermaine Beckford excited by potential Adam Forshaw impact in Leeds United clash with Arsenal

Former Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford is excited at the prospect of the Whites’ attacking line-up for their clash with Arsenal this evening.

Daniel James, Tyler Roberts, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo Moreno are the quartet that Marcelo Bielsa has named with the likes of Raphinha and Patrick Bamford both absent.

Leeds will be looking to progress through to the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup for the first time in five years when they were defeated 2-0 by Liverpool at Anfield under Garry Monk.

Bielsa has named a strong side for tonight’s fixture with just four changes from the side that drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend, with Adam Forshaw, Kalvin Phillips, Cody Drameh and Roberts replacing Liam Cooper, Mateusz Klich, Jamie Shackleton and Raphinha.

Forshaw is making his first start for the club since the 3-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra in August following two years of prolonged injury troubles.

And Beckford is looking forward to seeing how the former Middlesbrough midfielder performs alongside talisman Phillips in order to free up the more forward-thinking attackers in front of him.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick off, he said: “All you have to do is look at the attacking threat that Leeds United have today; Rodrigo, Jack Harrison, Tyler Roberts and Dan James.

“That’s an attacking forward line. Adam Forshaw will more than likely play almost alongside Kalvin Phillips because he’s much more comfortable in that position.

“His passing ability and range as well is really good. It’s something that Leeds United will obviously benefit from having himself and Phillips in that position.

“I’m looking forward to how they set up against Arsenal.”
