Jermain Defoe hints at Rangers vs Aberdeen role with game prep reveal

With four very good strikers in his squad, Steven Gerrard could pick anyone for the starting role when Rangers take on Aberdeen on Sunday.

Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe are all possible candidates and have all started games in recent weeks.

With all fit and ready to go, it's a headache Gerrard will love and veteran striker has dropped a hint that he could be in line for a big role.

The striker has started the last two league games and played a huge part in the 8-0 thrashing of Hamilton despite not grabbing a goal himself.

Although delighted with the result, he was visibly frustrated by that at the end of the match and perhaps he's chomping at the bit to get going again against Aberdeen.

And he posted on Instagram with a suggestion that he's needed to prepare extra hard for the game on Sunday if he has a big role.

Of course, a player like Defoe is going to prepare as professionally as he always does no matter who Rangers are playing and whether he's in the starting lineup or on the bench.

He posted an image of himslef in an ice bath at the Rangers training centre with the caption: "Nothing works better than an ice bath #gameprep".

The 38-year-old has one goal so far this season, his 300th of his career at club level and it won the Premiership goal of the month award for October.
