Jermain Defoe and Sunderland announce Bradley Lowery Foundation donation from Doncaster tickets

Jermain Defoe has announced that £1 from every ticket sold for Sunderland's match at the weekend will go towards the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

The striker re-signed for Sunderland this week, having last played for Sunderland in 2017, the same year that Bradley Lowery died at the age of six due to neuroblastoma.

During his first stint at Sunderland, Defoe got to know Bradley and his family and was touched by the little boy's incredible bravery. Defoe helped the family to raise funds to try and get life-saving treatment. After Bradley died, the foundation was established to help other families.

Sunderland and Defoe have now revealed that £1 from every ticket sold for the match at home to Doncaster on Saturday will be donated to the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

The tweet also included a video in which Defoe said: "Hey guys, I’m back. Thank you for the amazing welcome, it’s been great.

"There’s a massive game at the weekend, we need your support, we need that stadium full and rocking.

"And even more special, for every ticket sold a pound goes to the Bradley Lowery Foundation, and you all know what that means to me and my family.

"The guys at the foundation are doing amazing work, Gemma is doing amazing work.

"Everything helps, so make sure you get your tickets and we’ll see you on Saturday."

The Bradley Lowery Foundation account tweeted a link to ways people can donate directly, as well as a note of appreciation: "Thank you so much to everyone for their amazing support."

The match on Saturday kicks off at 3pm.
