Jeremy Vine and pregnant Scots co-host Storm Huntley hit with Covid

Channel 5 television presenters Jeremy Vine and Storm Huntley have both been hit with coronavirus - with Scottish host Storm less than a month away from giving birth.

The pair announced over on social media that they are both suffering at home with the virus, alongside several members of their television crew. Writing on Twitter, the official Jeremy Vine On 5 account said: "Are we entering the fifth wave of Covid?

"Both @theJeremyVine and @StormHuntley have Covid - along with several members of the @JeremyVineOn5 team. As many as 1.7m people in the UK have had it in the last week - so shouldn't the government be doing more to stop it? #JeremyVine"

Viewers flocked to the comments of their post to share their opinions on the pair being diagnosed with Covid. One Twitter user wrote: "Get well soon Jeremy and Storm."

Another said: "I hope everyone is feeling better soon especially Storm when expecting a baby." A third wrote: "Get well soon everyone."

However, not everyone was so sympathetic. One Twitter user wrote: "Oh give over you melts, get a grip."

Another added: "In the old days it was called flu. Stop being dramatic." And a third even said: "Who cares?"

Scottish presenter Storm Huntley is currently in the final trimester of her pregnancy, worrying fans with her coronavirus diagnosis. Stand-in presenter Trisha Goddard also revealed that the entire television crew on the show were hit with the virus.

It is not yet known when the presenting duo will return to the show. But the show will run with stand-ins Trisha Goddard, Anne Diamond and Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije.

Jeremy Vine On 5 airs weekdays at 9:15am on Channel 5. The show is available for catch-up thereafter on the BBC website.
